About the artist:
Ken uses two vintage manual cameras, a 4 x 5 press camera from the 1950s and a 2-1/4 rolleicord from the 1940s. To produce the golden and deep brown tones that characterize his images, Ken combines Ilford warm-toned FB paper with a process that involves bleaching, careful washing of the print, and applying a sepia solution before a final washing. Depending on the effect desired, each step is manipulated and adjusted.
Ken has shown his work in New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Lewes DE, Lambertville NJ, and New Hope PA. His most recent show, Early Morning, by the River, was exhibited at the Edward Carter Gallery in New York City in the spring of 2001. The show was comprised of impressionistic and abstract images of the steam, river currents, and spiritual landscape along the Firehole River in Yellowstone National Park; a repeat exhibition is scheduled for October 2001 at the Riverrun Gallery in Lambertville, New Jersey.
Future exhibitions will feature his latest projects, including varnished triptych images of columbines fields, cottonwood stands, and flowing mountain streams. All triptychs will be framed by weathered, stained wood panels.
